The City of Papillion, with help from Sarpy County Tourism, will honor softball stars and Papillion natives Jordyn Bahl and Peaches James-Keaton by ceremonially renaming two streets.

The ceremony will take place on July 21, 10 a.m., at the Papillion Landing Softball Complex, during the 2023 USA Softball Class B 18-Under Northern National Tournament, an event hosted by Sarpy County Tourism in partnership with the City of Papillion.

During the event, the streets that intersect at the softball complex will be ceremonially renamed to Jordyn Bahl Boulevard and Peaches James Way. The event will feature several speakers, including Husker Softball Coach Rhonda Revelle, Dr. JoAnne Owens-Nauslar, Papillion-La Vista Monarchs Softball Coach Todd Petersen, and Papillion Mayor David Black.

As a pitcher, Jordyn Bahl won three consecutive state championships with the Papillion-La Vista Monarchs before winning back-to-back National Championships with the University of Oklahoma. Among many other accolades, she was named the 2023 Women’s College World Series Most Outstanding Player.

Also a pitcher, Peaches James-Keaton won four consecutive state championships with the Monarchs before becoming an all-time great at the University of Nebraska. She has been inducted into the University of Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame, the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame, the Nebraska Black Sports Hall of Fame, and the Omaha Sports Hall of Fame. Husker Softball also retired her No. 42 jersey in 2010.

After the ceremony at approximately 11 a.m., Jordyn Bahl will be available for autographs inside the Papillion Landing Softball Complex as part of the USA Softball Class B 18-Under Northern National Tournament. The public is invited to the tournament, July 21 to 23, featuring 17 teams competing from seven states. Information about the tournament can be found at www.GoSarpy.com under the “Softball Nationals” tab at the top of the page.
