PAPILLION, Nebraska, October 12, 2020 – Mayor David Black will appoint Tracy Stratman as the City of Papillion’s next Recreation Director. Current Recreation Director Lori Hansen recently announced she will retire in December.
Stratman brings a wealth of experience from the City of Omaha where she has served as Recreation Manager since 2013. In that role, Stratman has overseen all of the City of Omaha’s recreational programming and recreational facilities, including 13 community centers, a nature center, an ice rink, two tennis centers and a trap & skeet range. In total, Stratman has an 18-year career in recreation, working her way up through various roles with the City of Omaha. She has also served as an adjunct professor of Recreation & Leisure Studies for the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Stratman has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Creighton University and a master’s degree in Recreation Administration from the University of Nebraska Omaha. In her role with the City of Omaha, Stratman has already built relationships with some of Papillion's Recreation staff through the Nebraska Recreation and Parks Association, where she is an active member and a past president for the organization.
“We are excited for Tracy to bring her talents to the Papillion community,” said Mayor Black. “Our City’s recreational offerings are a big part of what makes Papillion feel like home. With Tracy’s knowledge and experience, we know she will build on Lori’s success and do great things for the benefit of our residents.”
As Recreation Director for the City of Papillion, Stratman will oversee Papillion Landing, Papio Bay Aquatic Center, SumTur Amphitheater, the Papillion Race Series, Papillion Farmers Market and an array of recreational programming.
