Fitness Class Descriptions

No matter your fitness level, the Papillion Landing Community Recreation Fitness Center has a class which will keep you engaged.  Find our class descriptions here, and be sure to check back periodically as we add more classes.

Group Exercise - Choreographed

Couples Dancing - Fridays - 7:00pm - Studio 2 (Group X)

Couples will be happy to work together on some basic two-step, triple step, waltz and Cha-Cha’s, circle dances on your level if you need more of a challenge ask for some variation. Dress comfortable casual you can be in workout gear or street clothes with low heels non scuffing shoes.  Individuals are welcome.

Line Dancing - Fridays - 6:00pm - Studio 2 (Group X)

Line dance exercise, energy and helpful with memory reinforcement. These moves may be a good workout for some; social for others, something for every level of dancer. Dress in layers comfortable casual and with low-heeled shoes that do not mark the floor.

Mixxedfit - Wednesdays - 6:30pm - Studio 2 (Group X)

A people-inspired dance fitness program that combines explosive dance movements and body weight toning.  Out moves are big and exaggerated, which means we add a lot of lunges, jumping jacks, and squats into our dance routines, as well as booty pops and body rolls.

Strong by Zumba® - Mondays - 9:15am -  Studio 2 (Group X)

Combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move.

Zumba® - Tuesdays - 6:00pm - Studio 2 (Group X)

A fusion of Latin and international music and dance that creates a dynamic, exciting, and effective cardio workout.  These fun, easy routines feature interval aerobic training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body as you dance.

Zumba® Toning - Wednesdays - 8:15am - Studio 2 (Group X)

Combines targeted body sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin infused Zumba® moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness party.  With light weight dumbbells you’ll work every muscle while you groove.

Group Exercise - Mind Body

Barre - Tuesdays - 9:45am | Friday - 8:30am - Studio 2 (Group X)

This class is a ballet inspired workout which includes dance moves with and without the barre.

Barre with Baby - Wednesdays - 10:15am - Studio 2 (Group X)

This class is a ballet inspired workout choreographed with expecting and new moms in mind.  It’s the perfect way to tone and strengthen your pre/post natal body while creating a stronger bond with your baby. Class is open to pregnant, & postnatal moms, and all other adults wanting to attend. Pre-crawling babies welcome, baby wearing encouraged.

Dynamic Recovery - Monday - 10:15am - Studio 1 (Mind Body)

This classes focus is to stretch and flow to get rid of all tightness and soreness from the weekend’s activities so you can move better throughout the week.

Ebb & Flow Yoga -Tuesdays - 6:00am - Studio 1 (Mind Body)

A mindful, balanced practice. Beginning with a peaceful Yin sequence, the practice transitions to an integrative Vinyasa Flow. Al Levels Welcome.

Fitness Yoga - Wednesdays - 8:30am | Thursday - 8:15am - Studio 1 (Mind Body)

This class starts with beginner flowing moves, drawn from yoga and other modalities to open up all the major muscle groups to help you improve your range of movement.  Time will also be spent on posture improvement to enhance overall fitness.

Flow Yoga - Monday - 6:00pm | Friday - 9:30am - Studio 1 (Mind Body)

This well-balanced, fluid style class will get you out of your head and into your body by moving with the breath through traditional standing, seated and lying poses.  Benefits include increased flexibility, strength, balance, focus and stress relief. Modifications will be offered.

Gentle Yoga - Fridays - 8:30am - Studio 1 (Mind Body)

This class will offer a slow-paced, nurturing format in order to focus on physical health and mental well-being.  Poses will be a mix from hatha, slow flow, yin and restorative styles of yoga.  Benefits include increased flexibility, joint mobility, balance, myofascial release, relaxation and stress relief.  Poses will mostly be done seated or lying, with some standing poses.  Props will be used and modifications will be offered.

Pi/Yo - Tuesday - 8:30am - Studio 1 (Mind Body)

This class is fusion of Pilates and Yoga in uses dynamic flowing sequences to strengthen muscles and increase flexibility. This format will help lengthen the muscles, increase core strength and improve balance.

Pilates+ - Thursday - 5:30pm - Studio 2 (Group X)

This class is great for individuals of all fitness levels.  Each class will offer a total body workout, focusing on the core as the origin of power to fuel movement throughout the rest of the body.  A variety of props such as bands, weights, and gliders will be infused with the traditional Pilates movements for additional challenges.  Modifications will be suggested for beginners or for those with physical limitations.  Pilates+ is a great way to increase muscle strength and endurance, improve flexibility and posture, and lead to better balance!

Slow Flow Yoga - Tuesdays - 12:30pm - Studio 1 (Mind Body)

This class is designed as a progressive and slightly slower paced flow class linking breath and movement to move the body and quiet the mind.  The class includes a warm up and traditional standing yoga poses linked to the slow flow to create strength, flexibility, and balance.  This class finishes with deeper stretches on the mat along with a relaxation session.  All fitness levels are welcome and modifications are always offered.

Yin Yoga - Wednesday - 6:00pm - Studio 1 (Mind Body) 

A slow paced style of yoga that targets the connective tissue and fascia throughout the body using passive stretches.  It helps to increase circulation in the body and improve flexibility.  This helps regulate the body’s energy as well.  The majority of the poses are on the floor and are held for longer periods of time.  Will include some meditation.  All fitness levels are welcome, variations shown and encouraged.

Yin Restore Yoga - Monday - 7:00pm - Studio 1 (Mind Body)

This class is a mix of Yin and Restorative yoga that helps the body return to balance.  Yin is a slower paced, mellow practice that gently accesses connective tissues and fascia with longer, passive holds.  Restorative yoga is a soothing, therapeutic practice where gentle poses are held with props gently supporting the body.  Poses in this class will be done sitting, lying and close to the ground allowed gravity to do much of the work.  Benefits include improved range of motion, increased bone density, circulation, flexibility, mental focus and relaxation.

Yin/Vinyasa Yoga - Thursday - 6:00am - Studio 1 (Mind Body)

A fitness-inspired Vinyasa practice designed to build strength and endurance while connecting breath with movement. All levels of experience are welcome.

Group Exercise - Strength

Aqua - Tuesdays - 8:15am - Pool

This class is done in shallow water(waist to chest deep) and will focus on aerobic endurance and resistance training.  Buoyant items such as hand buoys and noodles may be used in class.  Swimming ability not required.

AM Interval Strength - Thursday - 5:45am - Studio 2 (Group X)

Start your day strong! This interval workout will improve muscular strength and endurance while toning your entire body.  The class will blend a variety of movements and focus on overall body strength and conditioning.

Boot Camp - Saturday - 7:30am - Studio 2 (Group X)

This high intensity workout with a mix of cardio and strength training for a total body challenge.  Frequently changing format to keep your body at peak performance. Open to all fitness levels.

Circuit - Wednesday - 5:30pm | Friday - 10:00am - Studio 2 (Group X)

This class will challenge your body in a variety of ways while having fun.  Circuits include a variety of exercise stations that focus on strength and endurance moves.  It alternates between upper, lower and core muscle groups so little rest is needed between stations.  Beginners to seasoned athletes will benefit from this class.

HIIT - Tabata - High Intensity Interval Training - Thursday - 9:15am - Studio 2 (Group X)

This motivating class offers a full body workout, both equipment and body weight exercises may be used.  Tabata rounds consist of  eight rounds of 20 seconds of work and 10 rest totaling 4 minutes and then students will recover for 30-60 seconds.

HIIT Bootcamp - Tuesday - 5:45am - Studio2 (Group X)

High intensity intervals will be combined with physical training to build strength and endurance.  Resistance and body exercises will be included and class may use areas outside of the group exercise studio. Modifications are offered, open to all fitness levels.

Kettlebells - Wednesday - 9:15am | Thursday - 6:30pm - Studio 2 (Group X)

Challenge your body in a new way that is different than the usual strength training.  This is a total body workout that will also get your heart rate up.  Kettlebells are an effective training –tool for improving total body strength.  Modifications will be offered, open to all fitness levels.

Sneakercamp - Thursday - 8:15am - Studio 2 (Group X)

This back to basics class a light version of bootcamp.  Wear your sneakers and come improve your strength, balance and agility.  Let’s challenge your fitness level without a lot of fancy, overly complex moves.

Strength - Tuesday - 8:15am - Studio 2 (Group X)

A total body strength focused class that will use a variety of equipment such as body bars, resistance bands and body weight to improve muscle strength and endurance.  We’ll offer fun combinations to keep you challenged.

Cycling - Monday & Wednesday - 9:00am & 5:30pm | Tuesday - 9:15am & 5:00pm | Friday - 9:00am | Saturday - 8:30am | Sunday - 11:30am - Studio Cycling

Indoor cycling using Stages bikes focuses on endurance, strength and intervals with varying intensities and recovery segments.  All fitness level are welcome.  We offer Stages bikes and the Flight system, the Flight system is a multimedia fitness experience that enables indoor cyclists to set goals and track performance.
