The Public Works Water Department provides water to residents of the City of Papillion as well as the surrounding areas. Since 1976, the City of Papillion has owned and operated its own water system, regulated by the rules set forth by the State of Nebraska.
Our Water Department works diligently to ensure the safety of the water we provide to you. In fact, on an annual basis, the City conducts more than 18,000 tests — 50 tests per day — at locations throughout our water system to ensure water quality. We also submit nearly 1,500 tests per year to be independently examined by the State.

Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Title 179 requires the completion of a Cross-Connection Survey for all water connections to a public water system every 5 years.
City of Papillion employees read your meter each month. The approximate date of your meter reading is listed on the left side of your monthly bill. In order to provide reliable service, it is sometimes necessary for our employees to visit your home on an unscheduled day.

The City of Papillion monitors water hardness in order to help residents determine the proper settings for water softeners.
Because of the growing population of Papillion and its sanitary and improvement districts, the Department of Health and Human Services is now requiring an increase in the number of water samples collected each week.
