Fire Department

      Our Department

The Papillion Fire  Department proudly protects 45,000 people living in an area of 61 square miles in central Sarpy County. We operate out of two stations that protect both residential and light industrial areas. Our department is classified as career (fully paid).

In early 2011, after a thorough review by ISO, we are proud to say that our Public Protection Classification (PPC) went from a 4/9-10 to a 3/9.  This improvement has resulted in substantial fire insurance  premium savings for many of our residents.

Located just south of Omaha, our department handles both fire and EMS calls.  We have between 11 and 13 Firefighters on duty 24 hours per day/365 days per year. Currently, 19 of our Suppression personnel are paramedics, five are EMT-I's, and 15 are EMT-B's. We are one of only two fire departments (Omaha Fire Rescue) in Sarpy County to guarantee Advanced Life Support on duty at all times. Over 50 years ago our department was one of the founding members of a Mutual Aid System, which now consists of fivecounties and 27 agencies.

Our department provides the following services to Papillion's residents:

Emergency Medical (Advanced Life Support)

Fire suppression

Fire Prevention

Public Fire Safety Education

Confined Space Rescue

Surface Water/Ice Rescue

Low Angle Rope Rescue

Trench Rescue

HazMat Operations Response
